A surface acoustic wave (SAW) biosensor is a type of sensor that uses surface acoustic waves to detect and measure the presence or concentration of specific biological substances in a sample. SAW biosensors work by generating and detecting surface acoustic waves, which are sound waves that travel along the surface of a solid material. These waves are generated by a piezoelectric transducer, which converts electrical signals into mechanical vibrations and vice versa. The transducer sends a high-frequency electrical signal through a thin layer of piezoelectric material, which causes the material to vibrate and generate a surface acoustic wave.
