The nuclear power plant pressurizer is an important device in the nuclear reactor coolant system (RCP). It maintains normal RCP pressure during steady-state operation and limits RCP pressure within the allowable value during transient operation. In addition, the pressurizer also serves as a buffer water tank for the reactor coolant to ensure that the primary circuit is full of water. At rated power, about 60 loops in the pressurizer are saturated water and 40% are saturated steam. The bottom of the pressurizer (liquid area) is connected to the hot pipe section of one loop of the RCP through a surge pipe.
