A sodium-ion battery is a battery that relies on the movement of sodium ions between the positive and negative electrodes to complete charging and discharging. It is mainly composed of a positive electrode, a negative electrode, an electrolyte, a separator and a current collector. Its working principle is similar to that of a lithium-ion battery. During charging, Na+ comes out of the positive electrode, embeds into the negative electrode through the separator, and combines with electrons. During discharge, Na+ comes out of the negative electrode and is embedded in the positive electrode through the separator. The electrons are transferred from the negative electrode to the positive electrode through the external circuit. Finally, an oxidation-reduction reaction occurs at the positive electrode and the sodium-rich state is restored.
